Lwaxana comes aboard to get married to someone she's never met. She interferes with Troi attempting to teach Alexander responsibility and tries to teach him to enjoy life. Meanwhile a creature/parasite is feeding off a compound that is present in the Enterprise's most critical systems. The parasite is found but Life Support starts to fail and Data has to pilot the ship to an asteroid belt in order to get rid of the lifeform. The lifeform is removed and Lwaxana causes the wedding to be aborted by turning up for it naked.
